For over 20 years, PAR archeologists have conducted groundbreaking research into the lives of the prehistoric peoples of the Southern Plains.

Archeological Research is part of our name. As stated in our bylaws, one of PAR’s three principal goals is to “…facilitate meaningful archeological research in the Texas Panhandle-Plains region.

Follow the Current Research link below to find out more about our past archeological investigations of prehistoric sites on the M-Cross Ranch, owned by John and Kris Erickson and located in the Canadian River Valley of the Texas Panhandle. A team of professional and avocational archeologists have conducted intensive investigations at selected sites on the M-Cross, with most of the work concentrated in the “West Pasture” of this Roberts County ranch. The West Pasture is, in the words of John Erickson, a “prehistoric ghost town” where people lived during the Plains Woodland and Plains Village periods.

Follow the Current Research link (below right) to find out more about PAR’s partnership with the Summerlee Foundation, Texas Parks and Dr. Gus Costa in salvaging a major bison kill site in Caprock Canyons State Park.
